Over the years, we realized that Pune lacked a dedicated specialized breast care centre that offered holistic care. In 2009, we took the initiative to establish Orchids – the first standalone breast cancer centre in the region equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as 3D tomosynthesis mammography machine, VABB machine, and other essential equipment like an automated Breast Volume scanner, vacuum-assisted biopsy, Mammotome biopsy and many more.
The Orchid’s team comprises oncoplastic breast cancer surgeons, oncoplastic surgeons, oncologists, radiation therapists, chemotherapists, radiologists, nurses, genetic counsellors, Onco-psychology counsellors, nutritionist, pharmacist and day care nurses.
About Dr. Koppiker
Breast Cancer, Breast Oncoplastic and Reconstruction Surgeon
- Dr. C.B Koppiker is the Medical Director at Orchids Breast Health Center, Pune, the only stand-alone state of the art facility in India of excellence for breast Health. He has about 30 years of experience as an oncosurgeon. He for the first time brought integrated cancer care to Pune by helping establish the first state of the Art cancer center in Pune in 1994 which he led and pioneered several treatment protocols for the first time in Maharashtra. He has incorporated all cosmetic breast surgical procedures in practice to the benefit of breast cancer patients and developed proficiency in procedures such as breast reduction, breast augmentation and nipple-areola reconstruction. He has performed more than 2000 breast surgeries till date inclusive of more than 1000 oncoplastic surgeries, 200+ breast reconstructions & 750+ sentinel node excisions. (www.orchidsbreasthealth.com)
- Dr. Koppiker is also the founder and managing trustee of Prashanti Cancer Care Mission (PCCM).
- Director and heads the Oncosciences Department at the Jehangir Hospital, Pune.
- He established the International School of Oncoplastic surgery (ISOS) and has trained over 500 Breast surgeons from India and abroad. In a collaborative effort with University of East Anglia, U.K. (UEA) in 2017, he started the Mastership program in Breast Oncoplasty. He has been honored with Associate Professorship at the University of East Anglia, U.K. (UEA) and is also the South-East Asia regional convenor for UEA’s award winning Mastership in Breast Oncoplastic program. About Ms. Laleh Busheri
- Ms. Laleh Busheri is the CEO of Prashanti Cancer Care Mission. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Law (L.L.B) followed by a Master’s degree (L.L.M) at the University of Mumbai for which she was awarded a training fellowship.
- In 2009, she has established and is involved in day-to-day operations of Orchid’s Breast Health Center in Pune.
- She is also a founder member of the first Pink Ribbon Club in Pune, Pune’s first support group for breast cancer patients and caregivers.
- Ms. Laleh has set up and heads the Research wing at Prashanti which does extensive translational research in Breast Cancer. She has also set up Pune’s first breast tissue Biobank. She also has over 35 International and more than 100 National research publications under her name.
- Ms. Laleh has also authored 2 books, which have received the Amazon Best Seller rank. “Triumph Over Breast Cancer – Odysseys of Phenomenal Women” & “Genetic Testing- A Game Changer in Breast Cancer Management”.
- Ms. Laleh is an acclaimed TEDX speaker. She serves as a Member of the Board of Directors, for the School of Oncoplastic Surgery, USA.
